Lash Aftercare

How to keep your Portland lash extensions full & fluffy

Your lash extensions are an investment — and how you care for them between appointments is what makes a set last. Follow this simple aftercare guide from your Portland lash artist and your lashes will stay clean, healthy, and full until your next fill.

Your Daily 2-Minute Routine

1

Wash your face first

Cleanse your skin and remove makeup before touching your lashes, so nothing rinses down into your extensions.

2

Cleanse your lashes

Use an oil-free foaming lash cleanser through your lashes and along the lash line — yes, even on no-makeup days. Clean lashes retain better and stay healthier.

3

Rinse well

Rinse with lukewarm water until every bit of cleanser and residue is gone.

4

Dry gently

Use a small handheld fan to dry your lashes — never a hot blow dryer, which can warp your extensions.

5

Brush them out

Fluff your set back into place with a clean spoolie, brushing from base to tip.

The Golden Rules

Lashes Love

  • Daily cleansing — face first, then lashes
  • A handheld fan & a clean spoolie
  • Sleeping on your back
  • Silk pillowcases
  • Oil-free, lash-safe products
  • Fills every 2–3 weeks

Please Skip

  • Oil-based cleansers & makeup removers
  • Waterproof mascara
  • Eyelash curlers
  • Cotton pads & rounds
  • Rubbing, picking, or pulling
  • Steam rooms, saunas & hot blow dryers

Watch Out for Heat & Steam

High heat softens lash adhesive and can bend extensions out of shape before you notice. Skip saunas and steam rooms with a fresh set, keep your face back from hot stoves and open ovens, and ask your esthetician to skip the steam step during facials. When drying your hair, use a cool setting and keep the airflow away from your eyes.

Sleep on Your Back

Pressing your lashes into a pillow all night is the top cause of flat, crooked, or sparse sets. Back sleeping is the fix — and if you tend to roll over, a travel neck pillow helps keep your head in place while a silk pillowcase reduces friction. If one eye always looks sparser than the other, or your lashes wake up crisscrossed, that side is meeting your pillow.

Shedding Is Normal

You naturally shed a few lashes every day as part of your growth cycle, and each extension goes with its natural lash. That's exactly why regular fills exist — a fill every 2–3 weeks tops your set back up before gaps appear, keeps everything looking fresh, and costs less than starting over with a full set.

Before Your Fill

The night before your appointment, give your lashes an extra-thorough cleanse so you arrive with a squeaky-clean lash line. Save exfoliating, sheet masks, and heavier skincare for that evening too — not right after a fresh set. Clean lashes mean better retention and more time lashing instead of prepping.

When to Reach Out

A little awareness the first day is normal, but message me if you notice ongoing itching, redness, or swelling, any eye pain or discharge, lashes that feel stuck together or poke you, or extensions shedding faster than usual. Most concerns have an easy fix — and please never remove extensions yourself. Let a professional take them off safely.
